Mastering the Vocabulary of Accounting.
Tischler, Helene
Developed for use by students in an introductory accounting course, these learning modules deal with mastering the vocabulary of accounting. Focus of the modules is on vocabulary appearing in the first six chapters of the text, "Accounting Principles" by Niswonger and Fess. Covered in the individual modules are the following topics: discovering exact meanings by using glossaries, dictionaries, and indexes; recognizing and defining prefixes, roots, and suffixes that are common in accounting/business terminology; special areas of word study for accounting, including words indicating time order, sequence and common acronyms and abbreviations; and strategies for remembering technical and non-technical vocabulary encountered in reading assignments. Each module contains an introductory text, strategies for accomplishing the task addressed in the module, practice exercises, an answer key, and follow-up exercises. (MN)
