This publication presents 1982 data on business enterprises owned by Asian Americans, American Indians, and other minority races except Blacks and Hispanics for whom data was provided in earlier reports. This population of business owners was identified from tax forms and census data. In 1982 there were 255,642 firms with $17.9 billion in receipts owned by these minorities. These businesses were concentrated in the services and the retail trades. Five states--California, Texas, New York, Hawaii, and Illinois--contained 68 percent of these firms. The sole proprietorship form of organization accounted for 92.3 percent of Asian- and Indian-owned businesses. Ten tables include statistics comparing these businesses by state, type of business, type of organization, regional factors, receipts, and employment. (VM)
