This report provides a survey and evaluation of chemical information literature. Contained in this survey are an overview of the chemical literature field, comments on obtaining access to this literature and annotated bibliographies of primary, secondary, and tertiary sources as well as special topics. Primary sources include journals, patents, dissertations, conferences, and reports. Secondary literature includes dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, data sources, methods, monographs, multigraphs, serials, treatises, reviews, bibliographic guides, abstracting services and alerting services. Tertiary literature is defined as textbook guides. Special topics include nomenclature, biographies, directories, safety, environmental, marketing and business. (CW)
