This article presents a roundtable discussion on the risk in the education of young people in Russia. Participants were as follows: (1) Iu.A. Zubok; (2) A.I. Kovaleva; (3) D.L. Konstantinovskii; (4) V.A. Lukov; (5) V.Ia. Nechaev; (6) N.L. Smakotina; (7) V.I. Chuprov; (8) V.I. Zubkov; (9) Iu.V. Goliusova; (10) E.G. Panteleev; (11) I.A. Seleznev; and (12) L.I. Selivanov. The discussion confirmed the relevant urgency and fruitfulness of riskological research on the array of problems as these apply to the science of sociology, including branches such as the sociology of education and the sociology of young people. The study of uncertainty and risk can help to deepen present sociological theories and impart more concrete form to current conceptions of a society undergoing change.
