Organic Horticulture in the Secondary School
Marrocco, Aldo
Teaching Science, v55 n1 p46-49 Mar 2009
This report is based on five years experience working with primary and secondary school teachers in Italy to develop organic farming as an activity for students. The tasks involved were intended to develop our students' environmental awareness, allow them to produce food organically and show that market gardening could be a productive hobby. In addition, the manual skills inherent in the activity enable the students to learn more about themselves in work that involved the body and the mind. (Contains 3 figures.)
