Reported on in this document is the Indochinese Refugee Assistance Program with a consideration for three current developments: (1) the forthcoming admission of an additional 15,000 Indochinese refugees in the United States; (2) possible extension of the refugee program beyond September 30, 1977; and (3) progress toward enactment by Congress of legislation leading to permanent resident status and eventual citizenship for the refugees. A brief historical review outlines the implementation and activities of this program. Aspects of the program dealt with include funding, assistance given to refugees, refugee distribution, employment/training projects, mental health projects, unaccompanied children, physicians and dentists, education, legal services, "boat case" admissions, activities of the HEW Refugee Task Force, and refugee employment. Tables and graphs present statistical and comparative data. Also included are reports by voluntary and State and local resettlement agencies. (EB)
