Game Changers: New Concepts of PE and Sports Programs Are Making It More Fun for Everyone to Play
McCollum, Sean
Education Digest: Essential Readings Condensed for Quick Review, v77 n5 p38-42 Jan 2012
In this article, the author reports an up-and-coming generation of teachers and coaches who are dedicated to inclusive PE practices. They are passionate about helping all kids discover the physical, social, and emotional benefits--as well as pleasures--of physical activity. The benefits of inclusive PE practices are too great to forfeit, says Lynn Couturier, chair of the physical education department at the State University of New York, Cortland, and past president of the National Association of Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). The author presents the values of and a case for inclusive PE.
