Religiousness and Mental Health Reconsidered: A Study of an Intrinsically Religious Sample.
Bergin, Allen E.; And Others
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v34 n2 p197-204 Apr 1987
Assessed correlations between the intrinsic and extrinsic orientations of the Religious Orientation Scale, and anxiety, personality traits, self-control, irrational beliefs, and depression. Intrinsic orientation was negatively correlated with anxiety and positively correlated with self-control and "better" personality functioning, whereas the opposite was true of extrinsic orientation. No correlations resulted with irrational beliefs or depression. (Author/KS)
