Behavior Modification With Disruptive, Delinquent, and Otherwise Deviant Adolescents. Treatment of Delinquency Series, Chapter 6.
Cullinan, Douglas
The sixth part of a 10-part series, this report was compiled by the Educational Development Center at Wilkes College. The series deals with various aspects of the treatment of delinquents and is intended as a summary of research findings in each of the areas treated. Each report was prepared by a scholar-practitioner and is presented in a way that will be of value to professionals who deal both directly and indirectly with the treatment of delinquent youth. The report is, in fact, one manuscript of 627 pages; however, to make it more easily used, it is published in 10 separate parts. A detailed table of contents for the entire series is presented at the end of each part. This part begins by discussing deviance in a behavioral context. It then analyzes some assumptions and procedures relating to methods of behavior modification. Finally, it presents three composite behavioral modification techniques: behavioral contracting, token economies, and reinforced modeling. (Author)
