Kaufman, Alan S.; Flanagan, Dawn P.; Alfonso, Vincent C.; Mascolo, Jennifer T.
Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment, v24 n3 p278-295 2006
Within the field of psychological assessment, the Wechsler scales continue to be the most widely used intelligence batteries. The concepts, methods, and procedures inherent in the design of the Wechsler scales have been so influential that they have guided most of the test development and research in the field for more than a half century. This article provides a brief history of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC). It then provides a description of the fourth edition of WISC. The article discusses the following: (1) The administration rules and scoring of WISC-IV; (2) The technical adequacy of WISC-IV; and (3) The interpretation of the WISC-IV. (Contains 1 table.)
