Ohoyo One Thousand: A Resource Guide of American Indian/Alaska Native Women, 1982.
Anderson, Owanah
The resource guide contains a listing of 1,004 notable American Indian/Alaska Native women who are willing to share their resource skills in 62 Indian-specific programs, Indian priority issues, and women's agenda issues. The women represent 321 tribes and bands and are from 44 states. Biographical briefs for each woman include personal data (name, address and telephone number as of winter 1982); tribal affiliation; place of birth and year; professional field; narrative pertaining to Indian activity/contributions; efforts in advocacy of women; and summary of publications, honors/awards, and highest degree received. An index lists the women in six categories: skills and expertise in Indian tribes, communities, and programs (leadership roles, cultural preservation, spokesperson/visibility role, education, health care delivery, development/self sufficiency expertise, employment advocacy skills, and delivery of social services); skills and expertise in advocacy of women (education, health, social service delivery, and employment opportunity); professional specialties (arts, business, communications/media, education, health care, legal, science, and social work); post-graduate educational attainment; tribe; and state.
