Energy--Structure--Life, A Learning System for Understanding Science.
Bixby, Louis W.; And Others
Material for the first year of Energy/Structure/Life, a two-year high school program in integrated science, is contained in this learning guide. The program, a sequence of physics, chemistry, and biology, presents the physical science phase during the first year with these 13 chapters: (1) distance/time/velocity; (2) velocity/change/acceleration; (3) force/acceleration/mass; (4) force/momentum/collisions; (5) kinetic energy/potential energy/work; (6) energy/conversions/conservation; (7) heat/chemical reactions/mass relationships; (8) particles/models/REMS; (9) particles/models/moles; (10) electrons/ models/atoms; (11) electrons/attractions/structure; (12) structure/energy/ and (13) atoms/properties/periodicity. The learning guide is programed to permit the student to proceed on his own at a self-determined pace. The approach is quantitative, involving many questions and problems in the programed sequence which are answered in a separate notebook. Laboratory activities are not contained in the student guide, but are in a separate manual. For further information on this two-year program, refer to SE 013 548 and 013 549. (PR)
