Are Asthmatic Children Educationally Handicapped?
Bender, Bruce G.
School Psychology Quarterly, v10 n4 p274-91 Win 1995
Some asthmatic children demonstrate neurocognitive impairment or interruption in academic progress as a direct or indirect effect of the disease or its treatment. For most asthmatic children these factors do not result in impairment. Those at greatest risk in school adaptation have poorly controlled asthma and are isolated from peers and are physically inactive. Implications are discussed. (KW)
