The adequacy of the Village Library Project, headquartered in Nome, Alaska, to meet the library service needs and desires of the people in 18 villages on Seward Peninsula, St. Lawrence Island, and Diomede is evaluated in this report. Sections are devoted to the goals of the evaluation, evaluation procedure, goals and objectives of the project, project activities, attainment of stated goals and objectives, additional criteria, and conclusions and recommendations. Appendices provide profiles of the project and the village libraries, circulation statistics for the project (1977-78), a list of non-fiction books purchased (1977-78), a summary of alternate approaches to village library service in the Nome area, a mileage map of the project's service area, and selected references.
