This paper seeks to establish the relationship between Popular Theatre and Correctional Education. The Benin Prison experiment is the springboard for this laudable and valuable link. The paper strives stridently to show the value of Popular Theatre as a vehicle for achieving correctional values in a Correction centre. More than anything else, it preaches that prisons in Nigeria can truly be corrective and reformatory instead of the stigmatized centres they are if proper care is giving to pursuing the original philosophy of withdrawing criminals from society for re-training for the same society. The inmate must be part of that re-training process and his input should be properly valued. In conclusion, our argument is several methods abound for correcting deviants. But in our opinion, the Popular Theatre methodology serves as a veritable platform for achieving correction, reform and reintegration.
