This publication provides an introduction to selected works of Latin American literature that are available in English. Following an introduction that presents an overview of Latin American literature, a brief section lists and annotates relevant works of description, analysis, and criticism. The major section of the publication provides annotated lists of works of fiction and nonfiction originating in, or dealing with, Guatemala, Cuba, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. The bibliographies are grouped according to country; each grouping includes an introductory essay and biographical notes on prominent authors of the country under discussion. (GW)
