Shielded Metal Arc Welding. Welding Module 4. Instructor's Guide.
Missouri Univ., Columbia. Instructional Materials Lab.
This guide is intended to assist vocational educators in teaching an eight-unit module in shielded metal arc welding. The module is part of a welding curriculum that has been designed to be totally integrated with Missouri's Vocational Instruction Management System. The following topics are covered in the module: safety; theory, power sources, and electrodes; preparation, problems, and techniques; the technique of building pads of beads; methods of testing groove welds; pipe welding; plate welding fillets and grooves; and techniques for working with 16-gauge steel. The materials included in the module have been formatted for competency-based teaching and testing. All information sheets, transparency masters, job sheets, assignment sheets, and test items are keyed to specific competencies, and a cross-reference table has been included to aid in identifying the parts of the curriculum that relate to specific competencies. Unit tests to evaluate specific competencies have also been provided. (MN)
