Maximizing Staff Potential: An Individualized Approach to Personnel Development.

Procedures for individualizing inservice for special education personnel are outlined and described. Six steps are pictured in a flow chart and detailed in the test (sample substeps in parentheses): establish organized management (establish agency goals, prepare explicit job descriptions of personnel responsibilities); prepare and administer staff development profile (identify content, methodology, delivery); formulate training activities on the basis of the profile (establish training priorities for individuals, sections, and the agency); prepare staff development training modules (establish training objectives, secure training resources); conduct staff development (carry out large group activities and individual contracts, motivate staff); and evaluate the training (conduct a 6 month followup survey and prepare an annual report.)
