Project CHOICE: #170. A Career Education Unit for Grades 1 and 2. We Work with Animals. (Agriculture and Ecological Studies Career Cluster).
Kern County Superintendent of Schools, Bakersfield, CA.
This teaching unit on working with animals is part of the Agriculture and Biological Studies Career Cluster included in a series of career guidebooks developed by Project CHOICE (Children Have Options in Career Education). The units are designed to provide the classroom teacher with a source of career-related activities linking first and second grade classroom experiences with the world of work. Each unit follows a typical format that includes the unit rationale, goals, performance objectives, entry-level assessment, suggested instructional materials (including books, films, and filmstrips), and instructional strategy. The instructional strategy section contains nine lessons designed to make the pupils aware of the responsibilities and skills involved in working with animals. Each lesson is comprised of the following sections: purpose, materials, introduction, class activities, and summary activity. Task cards are appended. (This guide is one of fourteen in the series for grades 1 and 2.) (LRA)
