Although teaching has always been a challenging profession, in some ways, contemporary teachers find it increasingly difficult to make course material and the classroom experience relevant to today's students. One alternative to improving the effectiveness of teaching may be to employ the practices of andragogy, the art and science of helping adults learn. This article discusses the use of learning circles as a learning strategy. Learning circles, formerly called study circles, provide a welcoming and dynamic learning context, which eases the transition from teacher-centered to student-centered learning. This strategy is characterized by abundant interaction and cooperation.
