Creative uses of labor training films, documentaries, and full-length feature films in labor education are examined and discussed. A need is seen for more authentic, professional training films. Typical discussion sessions are outlined for "The Shop Steward" and "The Grievance," two outstanding National Film Board of Canada films. Documentaries on women's sufferage and the early labor movement, an art film, an abridged version of "The Ox-Bow Incident" ("Due Process of Law Denied"), an episode from the television series "The Defenders," and a propaganda film ("Anarchy, U.S.A.") illustrate different types of documentary films. Also provided is the schedule for a Roosevelt University course for labor leaders in which lecture-discussion sessions on the social and behavioral sciences are followed by feature films that enlarge upon the class topic. Finally, suggestions are offered for group dynamics training built around "Twelve Angry Men" and "Seven Samurai." The document includes ten references, labor and documentary film sources, major 16mm feature film distributors, and rental sources of films mentioned in the text. (ly)
