Attachment, Family Dysfunction, Parental Alcoholism, and Interpersonal Distress in Late Adolescence: A Structural Model.
Mothersead, Philip K.; Kivlighan, Dennis M., Jr.; Wynkoop, Timothy F.
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v45 n2 p196-203 Apr 1998
Parental attachment was shown to be a mediating variable when family dysfunction was examined, although parental alcoholism was not a significant predictor of attachment to parents or interpersonal distress. As the level of family dysfunction increased, participants reported less parental attachment and more interpersonal distress. Implications for theory and practice are discussed. (Author/EMK)
