Use of Computers in Information Handling. Report of the DSE/PADIS Training Workshop (Nairobi, Kenya, April 21-May 2, 1986).

This workshop attended by 21 participants from 13 countries was designed to promote the use of computerized information and documentation services in the eastern and southern African subregion, and increase the exchange of experiences of the personnel involved in the field. Labelle); (9) "Data Base Management" (K. T. Mavuba); (10) "Electronic Data Processing as a Tool for Smaller Information Units" (B. Brodmeier); (11) "Problems of Automating Libraries in a Developing Country--Kenya" (J. Were); (12) "User Needs and the PADIS System" (F. K. Inganji); and (13) "Regional Cooperation in Information Work" (F. K. Inganji). Analyses of participant presentations and of questionnaires completed by workshop participants are also provided. Appendices include a listing of participants and resource persons, the workshop program, a diagram of HABITAT (United Nations Center for Human Settlements) software applications, and a PADIS status report.
