This directory for literacy workers and adult educators lists adult literacy organizations (not including universities and institutes) which offer training courses to literacy personnel in four geographic regions of the world. The directory begins with an overview of the survey which was done to collect the data used to compile the directory and includes a summary of the findings and conclusions; the remainder contains five sections of directory information. The first four sections cover four geographic regions (Africa, Arab States, Asia and Oceania, and Latin America and the Caribbean) and are organized alphabetically by geographical region, by countries within each region, and by organizations within each country. Each of the 155 entries contained in these sections includes some or all of the following: organization name and address, head of organization, type of organization, year of establishment, organizations assisted, cooperating agencies, aims and objectives, summary of literacy activities since January 1975, staffing, training courses offered to staff, training courses offered to the staff of other organizations, and additional information. The last section contains four entries of supplementary organizations, each including the same information as described above. The survey questionnaire is appended.
