The Effects of Family Configuration and Support System Failures during Childhood and Adolescence on College Students' Self-Concepts and Social Skills.
Parish, Thomas S.; Parish, Joycelyn G.
Adolescence, v26 n102 p441-47 Sum 1991
Examined effects of familial configuration and support system failures for 256 college students. Found that individuals who had experienced parental divorce were more likely to have encountered parental hostility and/or lack of care, inadequate supervision out of school, lack of teacher concern, and financial hardship. Lower self-concepts and/or social skills were associated with these experiences. (Author/PVV)
