Teachers' Beliefs about the Effects of Child Abuse.
Yanowitz, Karen L.; Monte, Emmanuelle; Tribble, Jamie R.
Child Abuse & Neglect: The International Journal, v27 n5 p483-88 May 2003
Fifty-nine teachers generated what they thought were typical outcomes of physical and emotional abuse on children's classroom behavior. Responses generally fell into the following categories: lowered self-esteem, heightened aggression, academic difficulties, and poor social interaction skills. Teachers' responses generally mirrored research findings on the actual effects of child abuse. (Contains references.) (Author/DB)
