In this article, modified cognitive strategy instruction in writing (CSIW), a cognitive strategy instructional model is described. Modified CSIW was designed based on two effective instructional models: cognitive strategy instruction in writing (CSIW) and self-regulated strategy development (SRSD). Modified CSIW provides tailored instruction to teach students who struggle with writing in writing problem/solution texts. This article focuses on how this model can be implemented by teachers to help struggling writers develop their writing skills. (Contains 6 figures.)
