Two concurrent exhibits at the U.S. Military Academy from October 1976 to January 1977 were devoted to the paintings and book illustrations of Professor Robert W. Weir, head of the Department of Drawing at the Academy from 1834 to 1876, and to drawings done by cadets under his instruction. In addition to a catalog of the works on display, this volume contains studies of Weir's accomplishments as an illustrator, a teacher, and a poet. It is illustrated throughout with examples of works from the exhibits. (JAB)
