The videos in this educational series, for grades 4-7, help students understand the science behind weather phenomena through dramatic live-action footage, vivid animated graphics, detailed weather maps, and hands-on experiments. This episode (23 minutes) describes the roles of the sun, temperature, and air pressure in creating the incredible power of wind. The mechanics of wind speed and direction and the use of wind as an energy source are explored. How wind is used to control the flight of hot air balloons is also explained. The program includes a Teacher's Guide featuring additional information, vocabulary words, discussion questions, follow-up activities, and lists of suggested books and Internet resources. (WRM)
