Portrait of Urie Bronfenbrenner, Options in Education. Program No. 286.
George Washington Univ., Washington, DC. Inst. for Educational Leadership.; National Public Radio, Washington, DC.
In this transcript from a National Public Radio "Options in Education" broadcast, Uri Bronfenbrenner, professor of psychology and family sociology at Cornell University, discusses his three "Preposterous Propositions" for strengthening American family structure and society. Each of Bronfenbrenner's propositions is presented and explained, including that: (1) all American workers cut down their work to three-quarters time and spend more time at home; (2) increase the number of women occupying positions of decision making power in society; and (3) the first two propositions, with all their implications, will happen now. Reactions of workers to Bronfenbrenner's propositions are given and the propositions are discussed by Bronfenbrenner and the cohosts of the radio program. (NRB)
