Whole Life Living Skills Curriculum.
Roelofs, Alice R.; And Others
This manual provides ideas to enable Whole Life Program staff and friends to begin expanding on ways to reach and teach survival skills to adults. A list of suggestions for use of the curriculum activities and process appears first. Activities are provided for 11 curriculum areas: emergency procedures; apartment safety; apartment upkeep; food preparation, nutrition, and preservation; shopping and consumerism; money management; body awareness; self awareness/understanding others; communications within the community; earning a living; and leisure. One to ten objectives are categorized under each curriculum area. Activities are suggested for each objective. Pencil-and-paper activities, hands-on activities, games, and role-playing are some of the types of activities. A 12th curriculum area covered is tenant support. Timelines and checklists are provided for working towards tenant support. Section 13 contains objectives and activities for an eight-week class in problem-solving techniques, activities for helping participants prepare attractive surroundings, objectives and activities regarding civil rights, and a seminar series to teach specific skills. Concepts are listed for each seminar, most of which are designed to offer experiential learning opportunities. (YLB)
