This curriculum guide provides materials for a course in passenger transportation and travel. The four-credit, competency-based program provides students with skills necessary to obtain employment in the aviation industry, travel agencies, hotel/motel management, and car rental agencies. An overview of vocational-technical education at the school is first presented. These elements for the 2-year course are provided: program description; scope and sequence; course outline; task listing; Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) listing--entry level; DOT listing--additional training; occupational analysis grid, correlating tasks with DOT occupations; student competency rating sheet; grade requirements; and lists of textbooks, workbooks, reference books, and audiovisual materials used in the program. Year A content (510 hours) includes introduction to travel; vacation lands; reservations; special assistant representative; baggage; marketing; hotel rental; flight attendant; customer relations; professional development; computer skills; job search; and job survival skills. Year B content (510 hours) includes introduction to tourism; vacation lands; ticket agent; gate agent; travel agency; international ticketing; fleet service; speech; customer relations; appearance; computer skills; job search; and entrepreneurship.
