Health Services for Michigan's Crippled Children, 1981-1982, 1982-1983, 1983-1984.
Michigan State Dept. of Public Health, Lansing, MI. Div. of Services to Crippled Children.
The report describes Michigan's services to handicapped children provided under the Division of Services to Crippled Children of the Michigan Department of Public Health. The Crippled Children's Program (CCP) focuses on prevention, casefunding, diagnosis, medical care and treatment, and health care management. The program initiated the Locally Based Services Project to provide local program representation, assessment for services, and case management. The Supplemental Security Income-Disabled Children Program (SSI-DCP) services children under 16 who are eligible on Supplemental Security Income and show evidence of a severe physical, emotional, or mental handicapping condition. Individual service plans specify annual goals and measurable objectives. The Area Child Amputee Center provides multidisciplinary professional services to children with congenital limb deficiencies and children with acquired amputations. Characteristics of the SSI-DCP and CCP are listed for comparison of eligibility criteria, determination procedures, and benefits and coverage. A summary of services (prevention, casefinding, medical care and treatment, program representation, assessment for services, case management, and transportation) is followed by a review of program administration, funding, and medical care and treatment expenditures. Appended material includes statistical information on expenditures and diagnoses. (CL)
