Teaching Swimming Effectively.
Larrabee, Jean G.
A step-by-step sequential plan is offered for developing a successful competitive swimming season, including how to teach swimming strokes and organize practices. Various strokes are analyzed, and coaching check points are offered along with practice drills, helpful hints on proper body positioning, arm strokes, kicking patterns, breathing sequences, and turning techniques. Each chapter includes a section called "Evaluating Your Progress," which reinforces the key elements in that chapter. The book also contains an extensive planning guide with practice and season plans, training programs, exercises, and motivational tips, as well as advice on coaching at meets. Appendices provide answer pages for the "Evaluating Your Process" sections as well as an evaluation of coaching swimming. A glossary and list of resources are also included. (JD)
