Learning Expertise in Practice: Implications for Learning Theory
Jarvis, Peter
Studies in the Education of Adults, v47 n1 p81-94 Spr 2015
Building on Polanyi's insight in "The Tacit Dimension" that we know more than we can tell, this paper argues that we need to extend our understanding of learning to incorporate implicit learning, which is necessary in order to understand the process of becoming an expert and in so doing it points to the need to expand the theories of learning to include a philosophical dimension.
