Clinical Thanatology and Psychotherapy: Some Reflections on Caring for the Dying Person.
Feigenberg, Loma; Shneidman, Edwin S.
Omega: Journal of Death and Dying, v10 n1 p1-8 1979
Explores the relationship between psychotherapy and clinical thanatology relative to working with dying patients and their survivors. Eight special characteristics of thanatological exchanges are explained including comments on time, transference, aspirations, and empathy. Conversation, heirarchical exchange, psychotherapy, and thanatological exchanges comprise four kinds of verbal interaction used here as background. (Author/BEF)
