Federated eRubric Service to Facilitate Self-Regulated Learning in the European University Model
Robles, Daniel Cebrián; Angulo, José Serrano; de la Serna, Manuel Cebrián
European Educational Research Journal, v13 n5 p575-584 2014
The European Higher Education Area (EHEA) is a political programme for higher education in Europe that was developed in the context of the Bologna process. It highlights the importance of focusing education on students' learning. It also claims that students should achieve certain skills in a self-study process supported by their teachers. This approach demands that students reflect upon and self-assess their learning. It therefore requires that research is conducted on new technologies that require a greater involvement of students in their own education. The technologies require a higher commitment from students regarding their own assessment. eRubric evaluation is part of this conception of technology-enhanced learning and formative assessment. It is an evaluation method, a technique and an assessment management tool to support self-regulation of the learning process. Information is given about a research project to construct the use of eRubrics.
