This teaching guide is designed to aid high school vocational education teachers in teaching a course in architectural drafting for students who plan to become architects, interior designers and decorators, architectural draftspersons, landscape engineers, building contractors, building estimators, real estate persons or appraisers, and others. The course is a study of basic construction principles with emphasis placed on a completed set of working drawings for home construction. The guide outlines the course, which contains the following 15 units: rules and regulations; safety; introduction; residential design and planning; complete set of residential drawings; general room planning; architectural lettering and techniques; floor plan with door and window schedule; foundation plan with details; roof and plot plan; typical wall section; elevations; details; specifications; and computer-aided drafting. Each unit consists of objectives correlated with topics, student activities, teacher activities, and resources. Appendixes include a tool list; safety regulations; teaching aids; rules, regulations, and grading requirements; and surveying. An 18-item bibliography completes the guide. (KC)
