Transformers: Movement Experiences for Early Childhood Classrooms
Vagovic, Julia
Young Children, v63 n3 p26-32 May 2008
Transformers are simple movement experiences for the classroom that engage the mind and body, focus energy, and help children transition to the next activity. Teachers can use them throughout the day, every day. The author explains the basic movements and suggests ways to build on them. They range from deep breathing to gentle wake-up movements to lively activities around chants or songs. Children, preschool through second grade, will feel a sense of ownership and belonging when they participate as part of the group.
