The International Project. 1992 Update. Including "Microfilming Projects Abroad."
Rutimann, Hans
This publication describes national and international book preservation programs, including: (l) the European Register of Microform Masters (EROMM), a cooperative effort in which the Commission on Preservation and Access is a partner; (2) national preservation programs in Germany, France, Ireland, Britain, Netherlands, Sweden, China, and Central American countries; (3) mass deacidification programs, including the Library of Congress action plan; (4) new technologies pertinent to preservation programs; (5) microfilming projects abroad; and (6) future preservation priorities, including a statement from UNESCO on the need for an international program and a report on progress in developing a permanent paper standard. The centerpiece of the publication is a description of microfilming projects reported by national libraries in 30 countries: Algeria, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Liechtenstein, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Tunisia, and Venezuela. The description is based on a questionnaire that solicited information on microfilm masters, the existence of a central source of information about the masters, and the predominant nature of bibliographic control for microform masters.
