Pool Rules: A Survival Guide for Parents and Children
Grosse, Susan J.
Exceptional Parent, v38 n3 p71 Mar 2008
In most sports and physical activities rules are present to facilitate participation, outlining courtesy during play as well as establishing guidelines for keeping any competition fair. In contrast, rules for appropriate behavior in swimming pools serve a much more important purpose--that of ensuring health and safety for all participants. However, for swimming pool rules to serve their intended purpose, both parent and child must also survive the pool rule learning process. This article presents some hints to help children with special needs learn and comply with pool rules.
