Effect of Short-Term Study Abroad Programs on Students' Cultural Adaptability
Mapp, Susan C.
Journal of Social Work Education, v48 n4 p727-737 Dec 2012
The number of U.S. students studying abroad has been growing, particularly those participating in short-term trips. However, literature on the effect of these short-term trips is lacking. The purpose of this study was to assess quantitatively the effect on bachelor students' cross-cultural adaptability using a pre-post design. Significant changes were found on all subscales as well as on the total score, thus supporting the use of these short-term trips for this purpose. (Contains 3 tables.)
