Graphic Storytelling
Thompson, John
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v108 n8 p36-37 Apr 2009
Graphic storytelling is a medium that allows students to make and share stories, while developing their art communication skills. American comics today are more varied in genre, approach, and audience than ever before. When considering the impact of Japanese manga on the youth, graphic storytelling emerges as a powerful player in pop culture. In this article, the author shares a standard process for black-and-white graphic storytelling. One of the attributes of the form is its flexibility in execution. Graphic storytelling calls for a thorough knowledge of anatomy, design, perspective, but most importantly, how to tell a story. (Contains 1 online resource.)
