In compliance with Section 59-31-10 of the 1976 School Laws of South Carolina, this document provides a bibliography of standard lists that media specialists, teachers, and administrators may use as a guide for reviewing and selecting instructional materials for elementary and secondary public school library media centers. Sources of selection listed include 18 general lists, 24 periodicals, 11 specialized lists, and the publications of 5 professional organizations. Materials selected from any of these lists are eligible for reimbursement under federal grants. The Library Bill of Rights and the American Association of School Librarians' Policies and Procedures for Selection of Instructional Materials are also included, and a listing of members of the library committee appointed as provided for in the 1976 School Laws of South Carolina is provided.
