Video Technology: A Vehicle for Educators to Enhance Relationships with Families
Calabrese, Nicki McCullough
Education, v127 n1 p155-160 Fall 2006
A pilot study was conducted in an urban Buffalo Public School to improve communication and relationships with families. Based on the research of Ruby Payne (2001), Canisius College and Early Childhood Center #17 (ECC#17) collaborated to create a school video. A copy was distributed to every student in the school. All students, faculty, and staff members, as well as some parents, were featured in the film. The purpose of this video was to provide families with pertinent information regarding the school program as well as suggestions for families to help promote their young children's success in school. Surveys were distributed to determine family's perceptions of the video.
