On December 16, 1986, a new Syracuse city administration and the university announced an agreement exempting the Syracuse University Carrier Dome from real estate taxes; in return the city would receive a share of ticket proceeds from nonacademic Dome events. This settled a controversy that began when the city demanded payment of city taxes in 1984. (MLW)
