Chavous, Tabbye; Rivas, Deborah; Green, Laurette; Helaire, Lumas
Journal of Black Psychology, v28 n3 p234-60 Aug 2002
Studied the interaction of socioeconomic background and precollege intergroup contact opportunities among 215 African American students at a predominantly white university. Also examined relationships among racial identification, perceptions of ethnic fit at college (PEF), and academic adjustment. Results indicate differing relationships with PEF across student background and differences in the relationships among students' racial centrality, PEF, and academic adjustment. (SLD)
