Leadership in Doctoral Dissertations of Educational Sciences in Turkey

The purpose of the study is to determine tendencies in educational sciences doctoral dissertations according to divisions, research methods and desings, data collection tools, data analysis techniques, and leadership levels in Turkey. This content analysis study has been desinged with qualitative research methods. This research has been limited by 32 doctoral dissertations which has been published in YÖK database between 1987-2014 in the field of education about leadership. Due to the research results, most of the thesis on leadership belong to the field of educational administration. Leadership rarely represented in the field of special education and pre-school education thesis. Research results show that, mostly school principals leadership levels, roles, attitudes were investigated, than students leadership levels, roles, attitudes and teachers's leadership levels respectivly in educational sciences doctoral dissertations in Turkey. In future, master thesis can be examined in Turkey. In addition, comparetive researchs can be conducted on this subject.
