Education in Science, n244 p24-25 Sep 2011
Liz Lawrence has recently finished her term as Chair of Primary Science Committee (PSC). She is one of the 41 hub leaders who have led and mentored 192 schools across England and British Forces' schools in Germany, to achieve the first ever nationally recognised awards to celebrate excellence in primary science. In this article, the author writes about an item of primary science news in which Lawrence has also played an important role: The Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM). The author presents two powerful examples of "making a difference" in primary science: (1) Liz Lawrence, who by good fortune is ASE Chair-elect, so the whole Association will soon benefit from her energy and expertise; and (2) 250 subject leaders who are determined to raise the profile and quality of science in their schools.
