Pharmacological Interventions for Students with ADD.
Austin, Vance L.
Intervention in School and Clinic, v38 n5 p289-96 May 2003
A review of the research on pharmacological interventions for students with attention deficit disorder finds that psychostimulants such as methylphenidate (Ritalin) are effective in improving focus and impulse control, but should be used in conjunction with psychosocial and behavioral interventions. Comprehensive medical screenings and guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics on psychopharmacology with children are supported. (Contains references.) (Author/DB)
